Sohlbergplassen viewing platform gives you far-reaching views of Atnasjøen Lake framed by the round mountains of Rondane National Park. The concrete platform curves gently around the slim pine trees, while the steel-lattice floor provides water and light to the soft forest floor.

The curvy shaped platform offered fantastic views of lake Atnsjøen and the mountains of Rondane. The architect of Sohlbergplassen, Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk, is also the creative mind behind Strømbu Rest Area. The rest area has benches and public washrooms and is peacefully situated next to the river. The wall of the Mortuary at Asker Crematorium swelled to give space for a sitting area and cherry tree, the bricks separated to let the outside in and the inside out; the raised walkway at the Sohlbergplassen Viewpoint, at Stor-Elvdal undulated around the pine trees reiterating the path of the first visitor, as the rooms dodged the existing surveyed trees in the Summer House Ryssdal.

The viewpoint´s design aims to adapt to existing trees so that the trees don´t have to disappear, besides finding a constructive solution, it doesn´t affect the roots of these trees. 2013-07-05 Sohlbergplassen, the viewing point at Atnsjøen lake, curves gently around slender pine trees. The platform frames the view towards the lake and the rounded peaks of the Rondane massif almost exactly as they appear in Harald Sohlberg’s famous painting “Winter’s Night in Rondane”.Wheelchair accessible. The architect Carl-Viggo Holmebakk designed the Sohlbergplassen Viewpoint in Stor-Elvdal, Norway so that the visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the surroundings from a platform inspired by the pine trees growing in the forest on the nearby hillside and on the mountains in the distance.
